Gel or Conditioner?

Posted: Tuesday, December 25, 2007 4:06:47 AM
Hello everyone, I came to get some input if anyone has on this subject. For years when i was younger 12-22 (my current age) I've used numerous hair gel products. A few years back a friend had told me I should just stop using hair gel and start using conditioner instead. Conditioner give me the same effect any hair gel would so I continue to use this because I heard using conditioner will not damage your hair as Gel will. Does anyone know anything about this?

Hi,
This is true that hair gel can damage your hair due to some chemicals present in them, while conditioner can give you the same feel and look without harming your hairs. It is very much important for you to understand the type of your hairs before choosing any conditioner because our hairs differs in nature. You should choose the conditioner which can shine your hairs as well as could provide strength and support to your existing hairs. Viviscal is a kind of conditioner which provides shine to hairs and provides strength to hair which results in less hair fall. This conditioner also helps in growing of new hairs. Viviscal is suitable for almost every kind of hair.

I agree with David. It depends on the type of your hair.
Our hair keratin protein has a low molecular weight so it is best
to use conditioner.

I prefer to use conditioner like Creamsilk because it really helps to maintain your hair shiny and remove the brittle hair.

Instead of going for herbal based hair products, you can try some hair care tips at home. Use lime juice, curd or egg white as natural conditioners. Use pack of henna, ritha, amla and shikakai (you can get these in powder form in any Indian grocery stores) powders instead of shampoo to maintain good hair. Eat lots of fruits and fresh vegetables. Avoid oily foods and maintain a balanced diet. Your hair will shine as what is shown on TV ads.
