How to overcome depression?

Posted: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 9:12:14 AM
I've been feeling abit down in the dumps these past couple months - it began when I lost my job. My girlfriend says I should see a psychiatrist and get on anti depressants but I don’t think theres anything unnatural about being unemployed and bummed out. Is she over reacting, or is there actually some base for her concern?

Sounds like Reactive Depression to losing your job. Happening to many people at present. It would be worthwhile speaking to your Dr. and let them asess you. He may offer some advice and ask you to come back and see him again, or he may think you need meds and/or a Psychiatrist referral.

My advice is to seek medical help and not to let it linger as it could turn into clinical depression.

Best wishes

Thanx Lennie. But many of my friends say depression due to losing a job is a mild depression and does not need any treatment.

I am not in agreement with the views of your girl friend. I think some problems are running in your mind. Due to which you are feeling depressed. You should have a conversation with your girl friend or a doctor. After this you will feel good.
