Fasting

A few years ago I started a fasting "program". I overheard someone at the gym talking about it and decided to try it. In summary you fast once a week for a 24 hour time period. The neat thing about this approach is that it minimizes the time you are actively fasting. Here's the routine.
1. Sunday night is your last meal before the fast.
2. From Sunday evening (dinner time) until Monday evening (dinner time) you fast. Eat absolutely nothing. Drink water if you like, but stay away from Coffee, Tea, or any other dehydrant.
That's it. You get a 24 hour fast and still get one meal per day. Be careful not to pig out Monday night, cause you'll be really hungry. I used low calorie frozen meals for portion control assistance on Monday night.
Good luck with whatever you decide to try.

I forgot to mention in my last reply that you are sleeping for 1/3 of your fasting time with this program, and likely are at work for the other 2/3. Thus, it's easier to keep your mind off the fact that your hungry.

I have been on serveral fast and I believe you should go on a good 3 day to start out with only eating fruits and vegtables for 3 days prior to your 3 day fast. You can either drink water of put organic lemon juice from Organic Lemons. You will not be hungry after the 2 or 3rd day. Your body will get the idea Is is not going to be fed and you will rest your digestive system. When going off the fast you should water down Orange Juice with 1/2 cup of water. Eat a 1/2 of an apple and soup for the first day off the fast all organic of course. Make your activity light as you may get Dizy if you bend over to suddenly. I felt soooo good after the 3 days like I never felt before. Happy Fasting!!

Hi,
fasting is such a big topic - many people use fasting to reach a new spiritual planes and I am sure it is an interesting tool for such persuits. As a method of weight loss I think it is too extreme and could end up with people then binging - we tend to work with extremes until, hopefully we find balance. There are people who should not fast e.g. they are underweight, have blood sugar disorders or kidney problems. I have no idea if you have a strong constitution and therefore would be ok on a long fast. If you have lots of weight to lose then you may be ok but would you then compensate by overeating? I need more information about yourself before I could give any truly helpful advice.
