Knee replacement is a routine operation for knee pain when the knee joint has been severely damaged, more commonly by arthritis. There are two types of surgery depending upon the condition of the knee. One is total knee replacement and the other is half knee replacement. A replacement knee will not last forever, but an artificial knee will probably last at least 10-15 years, depending on how active you are and the type of replacement you have.
Every hospital and doctor will have different ways of doing things when carrying out knee replacement surgery. So, you need to follow the guidelines provided by the hospitals.
