I totally agree with Paisley, stay away from cigarettes around you. The way I quit was to keep myself busy with eating melon seed and staying away from alcohol, going cold turkey is the way to go, after three days I could drink without getting a craving for a cigarette.

Oh and weight gain is a factor you have to deal with when quiting smoking, you body is used to burning calories when pumping tar out of you lungs, no more tar = weight gain. So if you wanna keep your figure, better start working out
