Not all of us are blessed with glowing complexion. Constant exposure to sun will cause the skin to darken and appear weather-beaten. Here are a few home remedies to lighten skin tone and bring the glow back on your skin. Wash face with cool water and run an ice cube over the face. Mix a teaspoon of sugar with a few drops of lemon juice and apply to face. Rub it on gently. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off with Luke warm water. Mix a teaspoon of oatmeal powder, a pinch of turmeric and a few drops of lemon to make a thick paste. Apply to face and leave it to dry. Wash off mask with water. These remedies can be followed daily. A good weekly ritual to get an instant glow and lighten skin tone is to mash ripe bananas and smear it on the face. Wash it off after 3-4 minutes, a face pack made of fullers' earth, mashed ripe papaya and cucumber juice when applied to the face and throat will help tighten skin and lighten it in the process, Apply slices of raw potato to the face. Let the juice sit for 10 minutes, then wash off with cool water. Apply milk or natural yoghurt to the face with a cloth. Leave on for 5-15 minutes or until dry. Drink at least a litre and a half of water, especially in the heat.

There are a variety of skin care products in the market that can help lighten your skin tone. I suggest use a sunscreen religiously so that you don't get tanned.

Hey!
Some great tips there from George Smith. I found similar tips in the bonus product of an online book called Happy Healthy Herbs. The main book was about home herb gardening, but the bonus book was all about natural skin care with herbs.
I agree with Marilynn Syrett. You do need to use sunblock. In fact, use a light sunblock everyday, if you can. And one with moisturizer. After your morning skin care regimen, simply apply the sunblock onto your face and start your day. It's also a good idea to apply sunblock to other exposed areas of your body.
Next, be sure to moisturize daily. After you shower, use a good lotion. Aveeno makes some great products, and they are suited to most skin types. So use this moisturizer everyday, once a day (preferably before you sleep.) This should keep your skin soft and smooth and supple.
If you have acne problems or are afraid of wrinkles, don't forget to have a good daily skin care regimen. Following a daily regimen can not only make your skin soft and smooth and keep you young looking for longer by keeping wrinkles away, but it can also lighten your skin because it becomes brighter. The best one so far, I found in the guide called Clear Skin Magic. Great tips!

hey i have natural ways to lighten skin
1.Use Sunblock
One of the easiest ways to stay fair is to use sunblock on a daily basis. Find a moisturizer that includes an SPF of 15 or higher and use it every morning after washing your face. Sunblock not only prevents your skin from getting darker, but also blocks harmful UV rays that can cause cancer and premature aging. Remember your hands when applying sunblock, as they are a prime area for age spots.
2.Exfoliate
Exfoliating once a week will remove dead skin cells to lighten and brighten your skin. Mix two tablespoons oatmeal and two tablespoons brown sugar with a quarter cup of milk, and stir until a paste forms. Gently scrub your face, rinse, and moisturize.
3.Make a Mask
A homemade mask is a great way to lighten your skin and a good excuse to kick back on the couch. Try using one once a week. Use one tablespoon of each of the following: sandalwood paste, lemon juice, tomato juice, and cucumber juice. Mix them all together to form a paste. Spread the mixture on your face and wait until it dries. Rinse and moisturize for a natural glow.
4.Licorice Extract
Licorice extract contains glabridin, a component that acts as a natural skin whitener. Apply a thin layer of the extract morning and evening, after you wash your face and before you moisturize. Licorice extract can be found at any health food store or ordered online. Be sure to store the bottle in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness. Note: test a small amount on the back of your arm before using on your face to be sure you do not have an allergic reaction.
Remember to love your skin no matter what color it is. It's a part of who you are and that's what makes you beautiful and unique.

I agree that an almond scrub is a good place to start. I also think you just need to be more careful with your skin. Use skin screen when you are outside, and only go to the tanning beds in moderation. It's weird, but sometimes just some vitamin D can help your complexion a lot.
