need help with my toe nails

Posted: Monday, May 19, 2008 8:42:57 AM
I pulled the nail on my big toe away from the nailbed several yrs ago and a fungus started, so the dr. removed the nail ( last time I will do that ) anyway the nail grew in slowly and ugly. The dr. put me on Lamisil for 3 mo. no improvment!! Will not remove it again. I was outside in the bright sun and noticed my other big toe is white on one side and pulled from the bed. My husband said to quite wearing flipflops and wear shoes but what I want is to clear up these nails!!! I have filed my nail down on the nail I had removed clear to the skin so this fungi cure medicine would work better and I haven't had any luck with it...I NEED HELP...
Thank you for your time

Hey Carolyn...my boyfriend has a similar problem so I suggested he start the following "program" and so far it appears to be working: Every night soak your feet for 20 minutes in a solution of water with about 1/4 of white vinegar- just enough water to cover the toes, not too much (he soaks his entire foot, as his skin has "issues" as well), but you can probably just soak your toes. Once finished, dry your feet with a towel and apply tea tree oil under every toe nail, as well as along the areas where the nails appear to have fungus. I did this for a fungus I had on my right big toe and it worked- in two months the nail grew out and the "fungus" was gone (And I didn't even do the soaking part, only the tea tree oil once in am; once in pm). Good luck with that
