Ways to prevent diabetes?
Posted: Tuesday, October 12, 2010 2:43:50 PM I have a family history with diabetes and I am looking for any ways to prevent it while I'm still young? Do any of you have any advice on what I could be doing now to help me on down the road?

There are two things that will not only help prevent diabetes, but are two of the most important things to help improve health in general.
Change your diet and,
Get regular exercise

Regular exercise and controlling diet will help you in avoiding diabetes but it is not sure yet since it is not yet proven.

Do NOT eat white flour, bleached flour, enriched flour, or any other kind of wheat flour that is not whole wheat. The glycemic effects of such flours will work against you. Eat whole grain flours, and try to get a variety. Amaranth and soy are two good flours. Eat oat groats instead of oatmeal. In short, get your grains in the least-processed form you can. This holds true for everyone, regardless of genetics (unless you have a malabsorption problem). This one "trick" will help you keep your insulin level on an even keel, and that is paramount to diabetes prevention and management.

Yes, diabetes is not curable permanently but following some ways it can be managed well and even diabetics can lead a healthier life style-
1)Consume super green foods, such as chlorella, Spirulina, wheatgrass, barley grass, or even better – fresh vegetable and green drinks or green smoothies. Avoid fruit juices, though.
2)The skin is the largest organ of elimination. Encourage it to expel toxins by giving yourself a dry brush from head to toe every morning and night.
3)Drink a glass of clean water every two waking hours to rid your body of toxins. I hope this way you will benefit a lot! All these informations I personally knew from one of the best detox center called Fresh Start Health Retreat Center situated at Vancouver. These guys are awesome. I had taken their juice fasting methodology in my detox program & thanks to God i am fit & fine now. Similarly you should also check out their various detox programs, it might help u too

Eating sugar and refined carbohydrates does not cause diabetes, however a high intake of these foods may contribute significantly towards weight gain - which is responsible for diabetes. Achieving and maintaining an ideal body weight as an important step in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
