why poeple smoke and how to quit

Posted: Tuesday, June 28, 2011 6:07:50 PM
The cigarettes' nicotine content alters brain mechanism within seconds after smoking that causes the sudden gush of euphoria-the instant pleasure that most smokers crave for. It is also a coping mechanism used by people who are stressed, bored, anxious and it gives an instant gratification. But the good news is that if you quit today your body will be free from nicotine addiction after 2 weeks. A smoker can stop cold turkey but since this is hard, you can use nicotine replacement therapy like gum, nicotine patch, inhalers and the like. It is also advisable to receive counseling and go through behavioral therapy. American Lung Association can also orient you with the smoking cessation programs available.
