Health & college life

Is there such a thing as being healthy and nutritious in college?
I'm currently a sophmore, and I have gained a few pounds because of my awful eating habits at school. I live on campus and the stress and the lack of healthy foods on campus has affected me in a really bad way. Not to mention the availability of junk foods and sodas via the vending machines and the cafeteria.

I drink a lot of water everyday. At the cafeteria it is so hard to control yourself from overeating. And I just try to have one plate w/ protein and veggies and maybe a side of salad or something and dessert. But one tip I learned was to eat more during the lunch time and eat less during the dinner time. Since you can gain more weight when you eat at night and then go to sleep. I don't eat breakfast at the caf b/c the food is just too greasy and it upsets my stomach early in the morning. Instead I drink a healthy protein shake from Herbalife. And thats how I get my energy in the morning. I also think its really hard for our health that we sleep late. And sleeping late is another reason why I feel so unhealthy sometimes.

But really are there any other college students who are trying to be healthy?? Or are there other ways in remaining healthy on campus?

Thanks,
Kelly

When I was in college, I also gained weight. It was not until someone told me that I no longer look like my old self because of my gained weight that I started to look at myself in a new light. I felt so awful then, but thankful for that comment, because it motivated me to get enough sleep and rest, which has helped me control my eating habits. I realized then that when I get stressed or haven't had enough sleep, I overeat.
