Everybody thinks that in our dental arrangement the most important part is the teeth. It is definitely true but you should always know that our teeth are erected in an upright position due to the presence of the gum and the bone that supports it. So we should care our gum equally because it is also prone to be affected by diseases by the action of bacteria.
Pyorrhea Alevolaris is the formal name of Periodontitis which is a name of collections of inflammatory diseases’ that affects adversely the tissues that surrounds and supports the teeth. The teeth are placed in its position with the help of the bones. This inflammatory disease makes progressive loss of the bone which is found around the teeth. If it is not treated properly, it leads to the loss of the tooth.
This diseases is an inflammation of the periodontium, these are the tissues that support the teeth. It affects the gum tissue, outer layer of the roots of the teeth, the bony socket in which the teeth is anchored and also the periodontal ligaments (connective fibre which connects the gum tissue, outer layer of the roots of the teeth and the bony socket).
The inflammation is caused due to the deposition calculus that is found above and below the gum line. This disease is found in people who are suffering from gingivitis (an inflammation that affects the soft tissue around the teeth but does not extend to the bone. The cause of gingivitis is due to the deposition of dental plaque (a thin film formed by the action of bacteria) at the base of the teeth.
This is one of the most common problems of the teeth. To prevent these oral diseases we have to maintain an adequate dental hygiene.
