I believe in herbal medicaine. i recently had a rash on my neck and called the neck, becuase husband wanted me too. Got a cream which did not help, used it for a week and the rash was not better and i think it was speading. Called a friend and she said to try witch hazel. I did it took two weeks to get it better but it worked. I will herbal first and doctor second in most cases now. I think it would help our insurance system if we would try natural first then go to scripts.

Yes, I definitely believe in herbal medicine. I have 2 friends that are herbalists. They use their garden herbs for lots of problems from urinary tract infections to fighting off colds. There is so much we need to learn about taking care of ourselves naturally instead of popping pills for the slightest ache or pain. It is a mindset, if you have to pop a pill for something that hurts, then you tend to take meds for most everything. I like my holistic doctor. He works both sides of the street, herbs were being used ages before "modern medicine" came to be available. I would try herbal options prior to taking prescribed meds and in addition to prescribed meds, and as a last resort, rely on the prescribed meds. Herbs are natural and work better with your body.

Yes I belive that. I am so desperate to sleep at the moment and I am fed up with the odd sleeper from the doc that I did get some herbal sleepers, to be honest I felt off my head! Then they wanted me to buy more, even though they had just told me I should only use it for a week so why TRY and flog me more.

Herbal medicine has been around for years even centuries providing relief to minor and major maladies. Although some people believe the effects of taking herbal medicine to cure illnesses takes a lot longer to manifest compared to pills and readily available remedies. Nowadays, more and more people are turning to herbal medicine as an alternative, after relying so much on mainstream medicine.
I think herbs and plants known for their medicinal qualities can provide us with much needed alternative source of medication in curing illnesses. Lastly extra care and caution should be taken in its utilization, research for correct dosage and kind of herb to use should be taken.

I believe that herbal medicines really work, because most of today's medicines have been derived from herbal medicine. The ingredients of today's medicines didn't just magically appear. They have been refined and specially treated to enhance or deactivate certain parts of the main ingredients, but the ingredients had to come from somewhere, didn't they? The only drawback to using the totally herbal approach is that most herbal remedies have side effects of some sort (some more noticeable than others) that would have been eliminated in the prescription or over the counter medication counterpart. The person taking herbal remedies must do the proper research on whatever they are taking so they don't overdose themselves or cause serious side effects.

Herbal medicines have the potential to work but it is a rather misleading situation. Take willow bark, for example. It contains salicylic acid which is a precursor to aspirin. Thanks to assays of the bark, aspirin was discovered. Would you rather chew willow bark or take aspirin in known quantities that are effective? I tend towards the latter.
You also have a problem of consistency amongst herbs vs the active component of the herb. Assuming an herb does is active and can be attributed to some chemical or chemicals, it is perferrable to take the known chemical. For one, the herb itself can vary wildly in quantity of active ingredients. Secondly, the side effectives of the sole active ingredient/s can be known ahead of time and accounted for whereas the herb itself may have negative effects that are not present in the drug version of the same thing.
Unlike most pseudosciences, herbal medicine isn't that far fetched. Much of our medicine today is derived from plants, including some chemotherapeutic agents. If someone came down with cancer, though, one would hardly recommend chewing on some bushes instead of taking a known effective chemotherapy cocktail. It serves to demonstrate that, if possible, taking the active component of the herb in controlled quantities is preferred.
