Sheep Sorrel

Sheep Sorrel Description

Also Known as rumex acetosella, red sorrel, sour weed, and field sorrel, this plant is a common perennial weed. It has green arrowhead-shaped leaves and red-tinted deeply ridged stems. The flowers emerge from a tall, upright stem. The Female version of theses flowers are more maroon in color. It is native to Eurasia but has been introduced to most of the rest of the northern hemisphere. In North America it is a common weed. It is used medicinally as a treatment for inflammation, cancer treatment, diarrhea, scurvy and fever.
