This substance is a chemical element with the symbol Re and atomic number 75. It is a rare silvery-white, heavy, polyvalent transition metal, that resembles manganese chemically, and is used in some alloys. Rhenium is obtained as a by-product of molybdenum refinement, and rhenium-molybdenum alloys are superconducting.
