Minoxidil
Minoxidil Description
Minoxidil is currently widely used to treat baldness and hair loss.
Minoxidil was firs discovered before 1980's but it wasn't used to treat hair loss or baldness. It was used to treat high blood pressure, during that time that users discovered a weird side effect which was hair growth. After the 1980's a few companies created a topical solution with Minoxidil. The topical solutions normally contained 2 Minoxidil for women and 5 Minoxidil for men.
boils from using minoxidil
Yo,This minoxidil has me looking horrifying and my butt is sprouting hair like bigfoot and I have thin strings of hair growing from my shoulders and my nose bruises and peels like theres no tomorrow. I thought the black rings under my eyes would go away if I stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking but nope and my penis itches and theres some hardcore bumps inbetween my thigh and my genitals and Ive been having internal problems likeswollen tongue and throat and mons pubis and I think my neck is wrinkling along with the rest of my body, hands and face plus Im running out of solution and My head wont grow the hair evenly but thin where the hair loss is. Dangit! Someone find a solution for this drama!
I also suffered from tooth loss and systs in cheek and on gums and extra skin growth along with nerve damage pains in hands shoulders and hardcore migraines and problems focusing. This product also gave me an irregular heartbeat and breathing problems and hair on my lip and nose.I have anxiety and depression along with paranoia now. Ive been using for6 years and I can barely focus for more than an hour.
Hi everyone, just a quick question regarding the use of Minoxidil. I've been using the Minoxidil 5 solution for the past three months and I am happy to say I have noticed a small improvement in the thickness of my hairline, which is the area I was applying it to. Note that this is only because I've been applying it to my forehead exactly as instructed since beginning the programme - once every morning, and once every evening. But after reading some reviews of this product, it unsettles me to learn that Minoxidil can cause wrinkles on the forehead, and red, bloodshot eyes. I have been experiencing these symptoms in the past month or so, and I am convinced it is due to the Minoxidil - I had a fresh face before and this is no longer so much the case.Because of this, I have decided to stop taking the medication, but I don't want to "shock" my body by ditching the product cold turkey. I want to come off the Minoxidil gradually, over a series of weeks, reducing my use to once every evening, then once every OTHER evening, then twice a week, once a week, then finally cease using it altogether. My hope is that within this period my body will adapt to the change in routine and revert back to its original state. If this results in my hairline returning to its original appearance, this is a sacrifice I am willing to make. I cannot risk having wrinkles at the age of 24. But my question is, how long should I give myself to fully wean myself off the treatment, and is there a risk that, however slowly I might do so, my hairline will actually recede FURTHER back than was previously the case? Many thanks for any help, any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I desperately need some advice. Please, help!
Try Medical Hemp Oil. None of the chemical side effects besides a pleasant tingling sensation. It really does work as well as minoxidil. We put it in a concentrated shampoo too. lots more info on my facebook page, along with pictures, at https://www.facebook.com/Chris.A.Furney?ref=tn_tnmn#!/pages/Barely-Legal-Rejuvenating-Medical-Hemp-Oil-Shampoo/143669259111398or if you want i put some on ebay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Barely-Legal-Medical-Hemp-Oil-Shampoo-/160883761416?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0
The above comment is surely SPAM, put there by somebody who decided to lie in order to promote the medical hemp oil shampoo. It's transparent as a super clean window.

Minoxidil Medical Usage
Today the most common medical usage of Minoxidil is to treat thinning hair and hair loss.
Minoxidil Preperation
I am a 60 yr old black women, I started using rogaine one year ago. I did notice and expected unusual hair growth as indicated in instruction. I like the result of using this product, I use Sally Hansen facial removal, take skin hair and nails dietary supplements, and as suggested by my Dr. I also take Biotine 5mg daily, I must admit I have always had very nice skin and I very fit, I still run 10 miles when possible and have not eaten red meat or pork in 30 years. I have not complaints just wanted to know if i could increase my usage of this product but after reading your comments...maybe notbut I will continue to use it.
Minoxidil Side Effects
Topical minoxidil can have bad effects on the skin. My face bears the scars of minoxidil use. Black rings formed around my eyes and the skin took on a pock marked texture. These effects persist despite stopping the treatment over 2 years ago.
minoxidil destroyed my brothers face in less than 10 months. He went from being a fresh faced 21 year old non smoker into a haggard aged mess who looked 40. It happened slowly and he was pleased with the hair regroth. But the damage is done and he wants to kill himself. All medications have side effects but this is obscene.
I have to admit minoxidil is effective and even restored my hairline in front (even though its not designed for it), but my skin was really affected. My forehead looks "pock marked" and a fraction of the elasticity it used to have. Plus I have dark circles under my eyes. The minoxidil is a double-edged sword. My forehead looks slightly bloated and plus I think I'm developing forehead wrinkles I never had before and its been 5 months since I've been using this.
Minoxidil is very bad for skin it will age you and give you black rings around your eyes.
I had to have a eye lift to counteract wrinkles caused by topical Minoxidil. I'm 26
it gives you old man eyes
Topical minoxidil will damage your skin ( black rings, enlarged pores and wrinkles) and propecia will damage sex drive and give you man boobs It's pathetic there will be a cure for Aids before baldness
minoxidil 5 did a lot of damage to my face and skin. How can one little bottle wreck a life? People will sue
These black rings around my eyes are anoying! When will they go? It's been 6 months since I came off this shit
The list of possible side effects should include disfiguring skin changes.
Minoxidil is skin wrinkling and makes skin look haggard.
I used Minoxidil for 9 months but stopped because of the affect on my skin. It gave me black rings under my eyes and wrinkles. It enlarged pores but my Dr thought it was not Minoxidil. But there are studies showing how it inhibits collogen production and causes skin thickening. It's so effective they feel it could help with wound contraction to reduce scaring. This should be listed in the instructions so people can make informed choices.
Acromegaly is an endocrine disorder caused by chronic excessive growth hormone secretion from the anterior pituitary gland. Significant disfiguring changes occur as a result of bone, cartilage, and soft tissue hypertrophy, including the thickening of the skin, coarsening of facial features, and cutis verticis gyrata. Pseudoacromegaly, on the other hand, is the presence of similar acromegaloid features in the absence of elevated growth hormone or insulin-like growth factor levels. We present a patient with pseudoacromegaly that resulted from the long-term use of minoxidil at an unusually high dose. This is the first case report of pseudoacromegaly as a side effect of minoxidil use.
Am I risking with permanent dark circles and wrinkles under eyes that won't go away after stopping the drug while taking minoxidil and finasteride?I haven't taken Propecia yet, but have been using Regaine 5 for two years and have very f***ed up eye surroundings. Is it possible that I have made the furrows permanent by using the drug so long or is there still a point in stopping it and never trying Propecia?I have read people complaining about very long lasting dark circles and wrinkles around eyes after quitting the drug. Thanks!
Minoxidil can make the skin appear older even if there is no direct contact. Its a transiant thing
I am 33 years old female and recently went on a hair loss programme and was given 2 minoxidil initially to apply on scalp, but within 3 weeks from using this product I developed rashes and have completely stopped and not used this product for more than 2 months now. But the skin on my face has wrinkled, haggard with absolutely no elasticity in it all and the skin has taken a pock marked texture all over the face, my forehead looks slightly bloated with lot of wrinkles, black rings under my eyes and wrinkles, enlarged pores, swelling and puffiness of my face. The affects on my face makes me look much older than my age, when prior to using this product I was always complimented for looking 8-9 years younger than my age. This has caused lot of stress and I am so depressed. More information should be provided by companies manufacturing or supplying this product and I strongly recommend people to do their research prior to using this product.
This product destroys lives, people need to know the risks before they start using it.
How can it be legal to market a product that disfigures people?
My hair loss has gone this stuff works well. But my face and skin look dreadfull. Why is this drug skin ageing?
Minoxidil has regrown lots of hair but people are saying I look diffrent. My face is a swollen Bosechoose. I also have the dark circles and pores that are much bigger.
When we were 13 at school some blokes used this stuff on their faces. It made it easy to buy cigs and alcohol.
Minoxidil doesn't have this effect on all users. I have never heard of or experienced any of these effects. I have used the product for one and a half years, and the only side effects i have experienced are the ones which are clearly outlined within the leafleat/booklet that you get with the product.I think it is up to the user to be responsible for their own actions. That is, follow the instructions that tell you that you should discontinue use of the product if you experience unwanted side effects and visit your GP.Like all medicines there are risks attached to them, just as there are to surgery. People should do lots of research on any product that they are considering using. If you fail to do this then you only have your self to blame.
It made my face ugly and old. I was so young but now look too old for my body. My eyes are so wrinkled and my cheeks split.
I too got bloated face on Foam and lost a lot of ground after a four month bout with that crap product. I regret the day I got it so much. Its such a crap treatment
Made my under eye skin thiner gery and wrinked. It also made my face fat. The moon face went after 6 months but the old eye things is still there. It was 5 years ago
If your one of the people who notices wrinkles from using minoxidil you need to stop immediately they only get much much worse. Minoxidil wrecked my face, I'm 21 and I have huge pores all over my face, wrinkles and my eyebrows are sagging over eyes. This is in no way normal genetics and aging both siblings who are 5 and 7 years older still have very good skin. I used minox for about 14 months and started noticing my face change about 7 months into using(big pores around the temples where is put it on and forehead wrinkles). I should have stopped then but I was real worried about what was going to happen to my hair if I stopped. I wish I had never tried this shitty drug a bald head is nothing compared to having a saggy wrinkly face in your early 20's. And at the most all minox is going to do is give you a little extra time.
I am using scalp med which is minoxidil based. I have been using it for the past two weeks and nothing is apparent on my face except for very tiny little hair growth only noticeable through a magnifying glass. Your stories are scary. What priduct did you use? Rogaine or minoxidil directly? Can someone provide a before and after pictures so that we know what your are exactly talking about? Thanks.
I have just started Minoxidil and am scared too, but it looks like only 50 of people suffer so I will risk.
Its taken my face 4 years to recover from this poison, STAY AWAY!
So Minoxidil gives you a old face, so what? Most medications have side effects and Minoxidil is no different. I have been using this for 11 months and yes I look older and people are saying my face looks tired but the hair re-growth has been good and the wrinkles are only affecting my eyes.
Minoxidil really mucked my skin up and I only used it for 10 months. My eyes are wrinkled and my skins pores huge, its made me look much older than 33!
THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT IF U BELIVE IN REGROWNT OF HAIR U CAN CONTINUE USING IT ...............I AM USING IT OVER 1 YEAR AND I AM ABLE TO TRACE MY HAIRGROWTH BACK......I HAVENT GOT ANY SIDE EFFECT.I AM 22 YEARS OLD I ALSO ADVICE MY FRIENDS.....TO USE TUGAIN 10
TO ALL YOU GIRLS OUT THERE, STOP USING THIS SHITTY PRODUCT, IT IS A SKIN AGEING PRODUCT, BELEIVE ME YOU CAN LIVE WITH BALD OR LESS HAIR BUT NOT WITH SWOLLEN, AGEING, WRINKLED FACE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. IAM SUFFERING FROM USING THIS PRODUCT FOR JUST 4 WEEKS AND THE EFFECTS FOR NEARLY A YEAR NOW. THIS PRODUCT HAS WRECKED MY LIFE COMPLETELY.
Same with me. I can't really say that my face has puffed up, rather the quality of the skin has declined. In the year I have been using Minox, my face appears to have aged 10 years. Until I read this post I wouldn't have necessarily thought it was due to Minox, however now I am suspicious.
wich topical solutions did u all use and what percentage of monoxidil did it contain?coz i m planning to start use of tugain 2
I used Minoxidil for 5 months. Yes, I was amazed of my hair re-growth but noticed dark circles on my eyes. I suspected my eye cream at first and stopped using it. However, the dark circles persisted. I did some research what causes it; YES it was minoxidil. I stopped using it since November. Luckily, the dark circles are now lighter and hopefully, be gone.
At the end of January I started applying 5 men's monoxide to my receding hairline per my dermatologist's recommendation to try it! Within a few weeks, I did notice peach fuzz growing where there had been no hair on my scalp. Shortly thereafter I noticed a great deal of hair growth on my face, above and below my lips (black hairs and long blonde/grey hairs and on my cheeks, sideburns and chin. In retrospect, I do believe that a doctor should ask questions about a female patient's early medical history before prescribing something "to try".In my 20's and 30's I had thyroiditis as well as irregular periods, and I had electrolysis to remove unwanted hair. The electrolysis did remove the growth permanently and I hadn't noticed any distressing growth until a few years into menopause. Considering what I experienced in my early years, I don't think I ever should have tried minoxidil at such a strong dosage. Which is better, a hairy face or a receding hairline??? I also developed a very dry, itchy scalp as well as very swollen, itchy eyelids.I hope all of these problems resolve themselves as I stopped using the minoxidil 10 days ago.I know it takes time....I will try to be patient but a close look in the mirror does not ease my mind!
I am a victim (female) of this product who is still suffering, to all those who are affected by this product I would like to advise the following. As soon as you notice that you have an allergy from this product stop using soap, use basic QV cream to wash face as well as moisturise and do not use any make up, and avoid sun as much as you can. If possible wash your face with distilled water.
More research should be done on this product looking at the above testimonials I am sure people need more awareness of this product and prior to using minoxidil blood test should be done to prove if it is safe to use with their blood group.
I would like to use 5 Minoxidil lotion for scalp hair loss. I was wondering if it's benefits out weighs its side effects. Thank you for your advice!
I have been using 5 topical for 2years and loved it! great results, but started to itch and flake then red face spots made me put the brakes on the treatment, off for two weeks starting to see my face get better, i hope to restart but this time with less treatment. any ideas for good face cream?
Your lucky, my skin lost elasticity and its not come back 5 years later.
I found my face cream emu oil helps face redness.
I too am a 33 year old woman, I had been using minoxidil 4ml of 5 daily on a wet scalp, for four years. So I over did it. Result, I have just recently realised that my face has aged, my skin has lost elasticity and is the skin of someone ten years older.I also suspect spironolactone, I did my research and discovered it inhibits the formation of collagen I, this is the collagen found in the skin (amongst other places). Also, androgens are implicated in ageing, if you prevent androgens from your skin then your skin will age faster. To the 33yr old woman who posted, are you also on spiro?
hi, are you using spironolactone face cream, and getting some good results clearing red spots?
I have stopped using 5 Minoxidil, it really mucked up my skin and gave me bloodshot eyes.
I have developed 'Smokers Face' from 5 years Minoxidil use and have never used tobbaco.
The damage people report is a form of scaring. Minoxidil inhibits collagen production and leads to permanent scaring.
MY "TREATMENT" STARTED 9 MONTHS AGO - ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I DEVELOPED MASSIVE BLUE SHADOWS UNDER MY EYES. BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM EYELIDS ARE PURPLE AND HAVING LOOKED AT LEAST 5 YEARS YOUNGER THAN MY ACTUAL AGE I NOW LOOK AT LEAST MY AGE. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY MY HAIR HASN'T REGROWN - THE HAIR LOSS HAS STOPPED/SLOWED DOWN BUT MY FACE IS RUINED. I'M POURING THE SHIT (MINOXIDIL) DOWN THE DRAIN AS I'M TYPING THIS.TRY IT FOR A WEEK OR SO BY ALL MEANS BUT THE MOMENT YOU NOTICE ANY SIDE EFFECTS ON YOUR FACE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND STOP!!! BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
It makes skin rough like leather
My eyelids are wrinkled and thicker after this hair drug.
I quit Rogaine just in case and I can safely say my skin is looking a bit better. Slowly but surely, but enough for me to be happy with my decision. Undereyes looking a little better, the skin above my lids has shrunk back so I look a bit more rested these days, pores are shrinking and seem to be easier to keep clean. I haven't changed anything but quitting Rogaine, so I think I did the right thing.
No Fender. For me, it would go systemic and thus I would have the effects on my face....I never let it drip down my face. Everyone responds differently both positively and negatively. The stuff works, no doubt, but the sides get me darnit.
I know exactly what you are saying about the junkie look. The dark circles and puffy face and all due to minox... It sucks big time. I'm still recovering from it after 5 months off the drug.
I personally foresee a few lawsuits coming up against Rogaine in the future and, subsequently, this issue appearing on their list of documented side effects in due course.
I came off topical Minoxidil 4 months ago but my skin still suffers. If things don't improve soon I will be taking legal action against the supplier as these side effects are not listed in the instructions.
It dripped onto the floor killing Doodles my cat.
I used topical Minoxidil given to me by HAIR LOSS TREATMENT CENTRE (in Sydney) for 4 weeks only and I am still suffering from it for more than a 15 months now, this product should be totally banned as supplement for hair loss treatment as it almost killed me. I thinking of taking legal action against the centre.
If I could find the man who signed this poison off as safe I would split his head open like a water melon. It has destroyed my skin making me look like a drug addict or something. Ok, I don't really want to hurt anybody but my life has been damaged by this crap.
I'm the 33yr old woman who posted earlier. I've now realised that most of the damage to my face has actually been caused by SPironolactone. If you take an antiandrogen, are you sure it is not actually that which is causing the side effects?
four years after only 6 weeks of use and am still having bad effects large pores, thin crepe paper like skin, easy bruising, and vascular problems its not worth the risk if you have not used it yet.also a side effect i had at the time that i have not heard other people talk about was half the hair fell out over my entire body.
it sounds like someone at the FDA has fallen down on the job or has been compensated well for not making these problems put on labels.studies are out there confirming these problems.its the fda that needs to be held resposible
It gives you wrinkles with large pores like join the dots.
Not realising my hair loss was due to thyroid and by using minoxidil for my hair loss had worsened the thyroid. Although, I only used minoxidil for a short period less than 5 weeks, the thyroid took a worse turn which almost cost me my life. I am getting treated for thyroid but I still have the same issues with my skin as the above sufferers. I highly recommend for the above sufferers mostly women to get your thyroid checked.
The Manufactures this poison claim its not effective on the frontal area even though it is. This is because they know of the disfiguring side effects on the face. They believe they have admonished responsibility for these horrible side effects.
When are people going to realise this stuff is crap? It does not work and will make your face look like shit. I used it for 9 months and my face face never really recovered. It was aged
DO NOT START THIS DEADLY PRODUCT... IVE LOOKED INTO THE PAST CONSUMERS THAT USED IT IN RESEARCH,, ALL OF THEM DIED!!!. IT WAS A STUDY THEY DID I BELIEVE IN THE LATE 80'S... i PERSONALLY GAINED HORRIBLE HEADACHES AND PAING IN MY NECK THAT FEELS LIKE A STROKE... IT DID GIVE ME HEADACHES... BUT ALONG WITH FAINTING, PAINS, BLACKEYES,, AND NECK/ARM PAIN,,, THIS PRODUCT ISNT WORTH ALL THE MENTAL SUFFERING AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET TOTTALY!! IF I WOULD HAVE LOOKED AND RESEARCHED EVERYTHING BEFORE I USED IT,, I WOULD HAVE NEVER WASTED MY TIME... AFTER I STOP,, HAIR LOSS INCREASED ESPECIALLY ON THE FRONTAL HAIRLINE AND TEMPLE... I NOW STARTED USEIN APPLE POLY PHENOL VITAMINS,EMU OIL ALONG WITH GRAPESEED OIL... WHEN I WASH MY HAIR.. I APPLY CAYENNE PEPPER PASTE TO STIMULATE FOLLICLES... ONE YOU GET OF MINOXIDIL,,, YOU HAVET TO FIGHT THE EFFECTS OF MORE HAIR LOSS BY USING THESE NATURAL REMEDIES... ITS LIKE REPROGRAMMING THE NEURONS AGAIN... IVE BEEN USING THE NATURAL REMEDY FOR TWO MONTHS,, HOPEFULLY AFTER 6MONTH THE RESULTS WILL BE GREAT... NO SIDE EFFECTS AND NO STROKE LIKE EFFECTS EITHER,,, I SAY WE ALL DO A CLASS ACTION SUIT ON MINOXIDIL
oH,, AND ONE MORE THING I FORGOT TO MENTION,,, I WAS SO DAMNN HYPER OFF OF THIS DRUG THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS ONE CRACK!!!
I am using Minoxidil from last 2 months and my hair fall have been increased a lot.
My hairloss got worse too, no wrinkles yet but my temple pores are bigger and the skin feels tight/less stretchy.
Minoxidil does not change your face, it's just takes you where your going to be in 5 years in about 3 months. I don't know if it's progressive or just a one off jump, but after starting minoxidil at 19 being asked for ID in the off licence and being approached by women just suddenly stopped happening. It made me look older and uglier in 3 months, legal action should be taken.
Yeah it made me look like a junkie, stopped it and the effects went away. What a load of crap
im 33yr old female i was using rogaine 2 for a little under a month when one day my ears and neck broke out in hives,i also started getting bumps on my scalp, my head still itches like crazy and istopped using this product a week ago. so now im using tgel shampoo for my hair and tea tree oil for the hives which actually appears to be workin but did i also mention the swollen lymph nodes in my neck and head area. so what might work for one doesnt work for another but its not worth it rahter wear wigs or be bald
do not let vanity destroy your health.minoxidil will not only cause irreversible skin damage where applied but all skin because it travels your blood vessels, that damage is mainly the end of collagen production, it will also cause irreversible damage to blood vessel walls this is why it was stop being used for high blood pressure for which it was made.that is why people get the dark cicles under their eyes and easy bruising.these effects vary depending on the amount of drug absorbed and is very easy to have too much absorbed, applied to wet skin or after washing area even after dry if pores are still enlarged, destressed skin such as sunburn, dandruff or allergic reaction to any ingredient in product, higher percentages of minoxidil in product, hands used to apply it comming into contact with mouth or nose, through the hands if cuts or hangnails, from head to pillow to mouth or nose if you go to bed after applied i could go on.i have seen people who used this drug only a few weeks, absorbed too much and it damaged their blood vessels so bad that wearing sandals leaves bruises where the straps are and this damage is permanent, have also seen people who sleep with their face on their arm or hand or thin pillow between have bruises on their cheekbone area or where pressure is.
I have noticed this stuff is very cheap now, I think people are starting to desert it as a treatment,
I started to do research on minoxidil and facial puffiness and came upon many posts with people experiencing the same symptoms that I have. My cheeks and undereye area were constantly puffy. You could hardly see my eyes. My skin had lost its elasticity and my pores were getting huge. All this happened within two months of using minoxidil. I am stopping it right away and will find something else to use in place of it for hair loss. I am starting to look like an old bag.
Hi Minoxidil works great but shit it makes your face hot and redspots on cheeks!!!its like you get addicted to it and quit for a bit then slowly start up and Bamm the redness comes back, iam 48 male wondering what can conteract the redness? anyideas besides quiting
Yeah, minoxidil left its scars on me too. My skin tone was separated into different islands of colour (I never, EVER used to have red cheeks, not even at my most dehydrated or drunk), and I still have dark circles around my eyes (although nowhere near as bad as when I started). After stopping in October, my face still looks different - definitely older. NOT a fan.
After 4 years on this treatment for hair loss I began to develop the coarse features normally associated with Acromegaly. After stopping the treatment all of the hair gained in my vertex region was lost but the facial changes remain.
I wondered why people have been saying I look tired lately. This crap is going in the bin, I have been on it for 3 months, no hair regrowth anyway.
Swap your good complexion for some fine strands of hair and massive pores. Or don't and stay away from this evil crap
After 14 months use 5 Minoxidil stopped being efective on my crown so I stopped using it. I must say people are cometing on how much better I look but maybe this is due to something else.
I'm a youthful 41 year old female and I have been using minoxidil for under 3 weeks. I have noiced these same side effects, which is how I stumled across this site. My face is very itchy, slightly swollen and under my eyes the lines seem more crepey. I have just washed my hair to get rid of this mornings tmt and I wont be using again! It's bad enough being a hairdresser and losing your hair, but I need to try and keep my looks if my hair is going to carry on falling out.
Yo,This minoxidil has me looking horrifying and my butt is sprouting hair like bigfoot and I have thin strings of hair growing from my shoulders and my nose bruises and peels like there's no tomorrow. I thought the black rings under my eyes would go away if I stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking but nope and my penis itches and theres some hardcore bumps in between my thigh and my genitals and Ive been having internal problems like swollen tongue and throat and mans pubis and I think my neck is wrinkling along with the rest of my body, hands and face plus Im running out of solution and My head wont grow the hair evenly but thin where the hair loss is. Dongletatareum Someone find a solution for this drama!
I'm a 46 year old female and I used Minoxidil for 4 or 5 months. I did not notice anything at first but seems right at the 4 month period that my face started getting very itchy. I was waking up with puffy eyes and dark circles under my eyes and my skin did not look good. I stopped immediately after doing some research. It has been 3 weeks since I stopped and already my skin looks like it coming back from the brink. I took a antihistamine and it stopped the itchy face. I believe I had an allergic reaction from the non-active ingredient that is mixed in with the Minoxidil as a hair regrowth formula. Hence the puffy eyes, itching, etc. Minoxidi however may have interfered with my collagen production and hence the bad skin. Absolute reason why I had to quit, wasn't worth risking my face. I'd rather have good skin and not look old than a couple of extra hairs on my head.
Its not an allergic reaction, its the Minoxidil stopping your skins collagen from being synthersized. Its a crap treatment
If I could find the man who signed this poison off as safe I would split his head open like a water melon. It has destroyed my skin making me look like a drug addict or something. Ok, I don't really want to hurt anybody but my life has been damaged by this crap.I would just start boxing, and would not stop until the guys face was as swollen and damaged as mine has been from this crap.
Minoxidil is a very dangerous product.i was given a lotion 4 minoxidil to be applied day and night, and after using it for a month I had the following side effects: hairloss , enlarged pores, hot flushes, itchy eyes and black circles .
These findings suggest that Minoxidil causes skin atrophy.
I may have to kill myself, this product has aged my skin so badly I look 5 years older than my other 17-18 year old mates. Stopped it 6 months ago but if anything the wirnkles and black rings are getting worse.
Its funny to think people used to pay $50 for a months supply of this crap, they are almost giving it away now. Grow some wisps and age your face for only $6.99 a month, sounds good?
Maybe this explains why my face wrinkled up and changed texture over a 3-4mo span with Minox.
Minox Face, Rogaine Wrinkles, Catchers Mitt Syndrome, Big Pores, Black Eye. All of these names have been used to describe the disfiguring side effects this drug can have on the face. Yes the FDA should have picked up on it, but where big money flows these things are quickly silenced.
It makes you look like a heavy smoker
I used it for 4 or 5 months and I started to see serious bags under my eyes and my skin was not looking so hot. I quit yesterday. I’m now trying to get rid of the bags by using Vitamin E. I’m so mad about this shit because I never had bags under my eyes until I started using this facking garbage. They tell you all you get is a dry scalp but that’s not a lie. I knew it was too good to be true! Find another way to get your hair to grow back, cause using Rogaine is not worth it!
I have found this product very effective for my hair loss, it's refilled my crown (very thin before) and made all the hair thicker. But my forehead and temples look shiny and the skin is harder and not so elastic. It seems to be getting worse, I'm using 5 Minoxidil and have been on it for 14 months. It looks a bit odd because when I smile the skin on my lower face moves as it should but the affected skin just creases up with coarse folds. My eyes are possibly a bit darker but I'm not sure
I have used this product for 9 months and I my neck looks like an elephant's neck -- layers of wrinkles. My face now has large pores, eyes are red, chest is aching, hair that was seemingly growing is now falling out. I have used the product as they have suggested; but as of today, after reading all of these horrible comments, I realize these are side effects from minoxidil. I will stop immediately and pray. Anybody want two new bottles?
Oh, did I forget to mention that my scalp is irritated and my back itches constantly. Thanks guys for the comments. Now I know what's ailing me.
Anybody want two new bottles? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Minoxidil made me look older too, after only 17 months use.
Got some Minoxidil and put it on my bonce. Hair came back good.
I read that half life for topical is 22-24 hours so 1x per day may be useful. Only using Rogaine 1mg once per day. Not expecting miracles but just to hold onto existing hair. If no response and no sides after 2 month will go to 2mg once per day and see what happens.
When i was taking minoxidil something definitely happened in my face..i started to look older. not only did i notice deeper circles under my eyes, but also wrinkles on my forehead. minoxidil is awesome when it comes to hair regrowth, but has definitely some side-effects. if you take it for a few months you won´t notice any changes, but i wouldn´t take it for too long.
It makes your skin stiff then when you stop it takes years for your collagen production to get back to normal. Even then the scars remain.

I'm 19, been using rogaine about 3 months. today I noticed that I have quite deep wrinkles under my eyes. having read these comments i'm going to stop and hope it doesn't get any worse, my left eye especially looks really old, it's not so bad when my face is relaxed but when I smile my eyes look very strange. can anyone with wrinkles caused by rogaine please post and tell me whether they went away after a while? I can't believe this side effect isn't mentioned on the bottle.
This is a really good product If your bored of getting asked for your ID when buying beer. I'm 19 but this stuff has aged me bad in 2 years, hell I look 27 or something!
I used Rogaine foam 5 for one month. One night while I was watching TV I started having bad heart palpatations. I stood up and felt dizzy and gasped for a breath. Very scary experience. I immediately stopped applying Rogaine and went to see my doctor. My ECG was normal. I stopped all caffeine, alcohol as well. - Its four months later now and I've been feeling a lot better. The palpatations seem to be going away but every two weeks or so I still notice a few off beats. - I felt fantastic before I started using Rogaine. ROGAINE IS POISON AND SHOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE ON SHELVES. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT??? I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS DRUG WAS APPROVED. DO NOT USE ROGAINE.
This is a really good product If you want to look old dudes
Why Why Why didn't I read this post before trying this product?Same exact story. Swollen lymph nodes on head, neck and armpit. My face blew uptwice its size and is bright red. I had to get an incredibly strong topical steroid prescribed and it's still inflammed andoozing pus. I only hope my skin doesn't scar. I've always had nice skin. Not anymore. Thanks, Rogaine! Fucking evil and whoever they have on their payroll at the FDA...how can you sleep at night?
I just wrote the above review. If you're reading this, please don't let the messy-looking nature of this board prevent you from listening to THESE testimonials rather than the glowing promises on a slick Rogaine website. I should know better since I work in advertising but I guess vanity makes fools (and in this case, severely and horribly affected fools) of us.Each new "paragraph" on this board is an individual review. They're overwhelmingly, disturbingly negative. Please take this into consideration before you try this harmful, probably toxic, facial skin-ravaging product.
Don't use any product that has minoxidin, it is poison for most of the people. Indeed it helps hair regrow, but you have to give it a big thought if it worth. I used it almost 2 years ago, in 2010 for precisely 2 month. One day I felt my heart beating very fast and sometime irregular. Also a few other nasty symptoms (dizzyness, headake, pain in my cheast and left arm...) I stopped using it, went to doctor and the medical check was ok. However the sympthoms didn't stop, just fade away with time passing. Even now after almost 2 years I can sometimes feel some irregular heart beats. Before taking the mioxidin I never, never EVER felt these symptoms... I was always in good shape (as I am now) and doing plenty of exercising. So, my advice is not to use this product, poison for your body!!!
I know the damage people suffer to their skin sounds horrible, and it is ,but the damage the makers of this poison and the FDA should be held responsible for,and I mean criminally,is the damage minoxidil does to your vessel walls and your entire vascular system. They have known about these problems since shortly after it was developed for high blood pressure and its use was stopped. The FDA and the makers of this poison also knew and know it has caused the death of people who have used minoxidil. The FDA is a corrupt organization that have for a long time been approving drugs for the open market that have proven in trials to do more harm than good.Whether the people at the FDA have done this for profit or because they did not monitor the trials as they were paid very well and entrusted to do and just took the word or manipulated results from the makers these people at the FDA should be extremely punished.Long prison sentences and fines that would bankrupt them.
The FDA and any company selling this skin wrecking poison should be punished.
You people are truly full of sh1t. Minoxidil doesn't do any of the things mentioned above, except restore hair growth at varying levels.
This stuff may work for some people but I agree with a ton of the bad side effects listed here. This crap made me look ten years older in six months.

Hello, my names Steve Newbury and I'm from Amersham.
I first used Minoxidil for my hair loss two years ago, it didn't do much. I recently tried a stronger solution and it worked a bit but when I noticed my face feeling stiff and tight I threw it away.
It can form marionette lines on your face.
You people are truly full of sh1t. Minoxidil doesn't do any of the things mentioned above, except restore hair growth at varying levels. Thanks for that, DICK. This product has done some really shitty things to my face too, I look much older after 24 months use.
I have not really noticed any wrinkles but it's been six months since I started and my face does seem to look a little more mature. Maybe it's just one of those things but I have also been asked for a lighter by smokers (I have never touched one) quite a few times recently.
Minoxidil is irritable to the scalp but definitely cannot make you get dark sicrles or 'loose elasticity' of your facial skin as many on this site are whining. Aging, on the other hand does all that and I guess many of you cannot accept the fact you are ageing and blame it on Minoxidyl.
Yes it can and I will put my degree and research up against yours any day.

These drug companies employ these spastics and expect us to take them seriously? Fuck off
-----------------------------------------------------If you read the ranting of the person(s) who post about their seemingly severe reaction to this product, who have so many things wrong with them that are caused by this product, don't you think that there would be other people who have carried out research and come up with the same results, but put their case in a more civilized and less ranting way?Yes, I am sure you would think that.I believe, from my own experience, that there is little that can go that wrong with the product. I used Rogaine for about six months a few years ago, and I never had any ill effects upon my health. It seems to me that the ones posting such vitriolic attacks are only there for two reasons:First, that they cannot resist the temptation to mess with your head and tell you the kind of lies that product XYZ will give you every illness under the sun, orSecond, that they are actually working for a company making a rival product and they are doing what they can to ensure their own product's success.Whichever it is, they fail on one point. They haven't yet realized that credibility is usually connected to calmness and neutral language.
On the other hand, the idiots who got green lurgy disease and rings around their eyes, arseholes and God knows where else, probably didn't read the instructions and drank the stuff. It does make a person wonder. ---------------------------------------------
