What is hypothyroidism?

The thyroid is a gland found in the neck and it controls how quickly you burn energy. It also produces proteins and controls your sensitivity to other hormones. It performs these vital functions by producing thryoid hormones.

Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland produces too little thyroid hormone. This results in several health problems, including weight gain and fatigue.
