Hypothyroidism - Prevention

Can you prevent hypothyroidism?

Unfortunately, the vast majority of cases of hypothyroidism come from Hashimoto's thyroiditis which cannot be prevented. For those at high risk for hypothyroidism, regular screening is recommended. Screening for all adults should begin at the age of 35 and be repeated every 5 years.
