Achilles Tendon Rupture Health Center

Achilles tendon is a strong fibrous cord which connects the muscles in the back of the calf to the heel bone. If it is over stretched it can rupture. The rupture can be partial or complete. A person who experiences an Achilles tendon rupture might feel a snap followed by immediate pain in the back of the ankle and lower leg making it impossible to walk properly. Surgery is usually the best treatment option for an Achilles tendon rupture.
