Alcoholism Health Center

Alcoholism is a physical dependence on alcohol. Those suffering from alcoholism lose control over their drinking. They might not be able to control when, how much, or how long they drink on each occasion. Those suffering from alcoholism often continue drinking even though they are aware that is causing health problems, ruining their relationships, causing problems at work and destroying their financial situation. It is also possible to have a problem with alcohol without being physically dependent on it. This is called alcohol abuse. Those with alcohol abuse have all the same problems, except for being physically addicted to alcohol. Most sufferers of alcoholism and alcohol abuse have trouble cutting back or quitting without help. There are a number of approaches available to help with recovery from alcoholism, such as medications, counseling and self-help groups.
