Anal Cancer Health Center

Anal cancer is a relatively uncommon type of cancer which occurs in the anal canal. The anal canal is a short tube at the end of the rectum through which the stool leaves the body. Approximately 5000 people are diagnosed with anal cancer in the United States each year, and the incidence of anal cancer is increasing but it is not clear why. In most cases, anal cancer is diagnosed at an early stage when treatment provides the best chance for a cure. It is usually treated with a combination of chemotherapy and radiation.
