Antiphospholipid Syndrome Health Center

Antiphospholipid syndrome is a condition which can cause clotting within the arteries and veins as well as various other problems, some of which can be life-threatening. Antiphospholipid syndrome can cause clots to form in the legs, a condition known as deep vein thrombosis. It may also cause blood clots to form in organs such as kidneys or lungs and even brain. With antiphospholipid syndrome the immune system mistakenly produces antibodies to certain proteins in blood, causing them to attack the blood and cause clotting.
