Aortic Valve Stenosis Health Center

Aortic valve stenosis occurs when the heart's aortic valve narrows and this narrowing prevents the valve from opening fully, thus obstructing blood flow from the heart into the aorta and onward to the rest of the body. With the aortic valve obstructed, the heart needs to work harder in order to pump blood to the body. With time this extra work weakens the heart and limits the amount of blood it can pump, leading to symptoms such as fatigue and dizziness.
