Aplastic Anemia Health Center

A condition which occurs when the body stops producing enough new blood cells is called aplastic anemia, and it leaves the person fatigued and at higher risk of infections and uncontrolled bleeding. Aplastic anemia is a rare and serious condition which can develop at any age, however it is more common in younger people. Treatments may include medications, blood transfusions or a bone marrow transplant. In the past considered almost always fatal, aplastic anemia has a much better prognosis these days thanks to advances in treatment.
