Baker's Cyst Health Center

Baker's cyst is a fluid filled cyst which causes a bulge and a feeling of tightness behind the knee. The pain can get worse when the knee is fully flexed or extended, or during activity. Also called a popliteal cyst, the Baker's cyst is usually the result of a problem with the knee joint, such as arthritis or a cartilage tear. Both of these conditions can cause the knee to produce too much fluid which can lead to a Baker's cyst.
