Bartholin Cyst Health Center

Bartholin glands, found on each side of the vaginal opening, secrete the fluid which helps lubricate the vagina. The openings of these glands can sometimes become obstructed, causing the fluid to back up into the gland. This results in a relatively painless swelling called Bartholin cyst. Sometimes the fluid within the cyst may become infected, resulting in pus surrounded by inflamed tissue (abscess).
