Bladder Control - Treatment

There are several ways to treat urinary incontinence.

If medications are illness are the underlying cause of the problem, then the drugs may be discontinued or the illness treated. For people with mental illness or Alzheimer's adult diapers, bedpans and urinary catheters are often the only options.

Kegel exercises can be used to strengthen weak bladder muscles. Bladder behaviour training where you learn to hold it in longer can also help.

Medications that prevent bladder contractions or increase bladder capacity can sometimes help. There are also over the counter herbal remedies to treat urinary incontinence, such as Flotrol.

Bladder surgery can be used to treat stress incontinence. Collagen injections can also treat this condition.
