Blind Loop Syndrome Health Center

When part of the small intestine is bypassed and cut off from the normal flow of food and digestive juice, it is called a blind loop syndrome. The bypassed portion of intestine leads to series of problems. Food can not pass through the loop and digestive fluids stagnate, resulting in fermenting food, encouraged bacterial growth and interference with absorption of essential nutrients. Blind loop often leads to diarrhea, weight loss and malnutrition.
