Body Dysmorphic Disorder Health Center

Body dysmorphic disorder is a type of chronic mental illness where a person can not stop thinking about a flaw in their appearance, a flaw which is either minor or imagined. To the people with this disorder, their appearance seems shameful and distressing, and they do not want to be seen by anyone. Body dysmorphic disorder has also been sometimes called "imagined ugliness".
