Bone Spurs Health Center

Bone spurs are bony projections which develop along the edges of bones. While bone spurs themselves are not painful, they can rub against nearby nerves and bones causing pain. Also called osteophytes, bone spurs can form on any bone, and they often form in the joints. They can also be found where ligaments and tendons connect to the bone. Bone spurs can also form on the bones of the spine.
