Castleman disease is a rare illness which affects the lymph nodes and other immune-cell structures of the body. Castleman disease, also known as giant lymph node hyperplasia, and angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia, is classified as a lymphoproliferative disorder, meaning it involves a proliferation or overgrowth of the lymphatic system, which are also characterized by cell overgrowth. Castleman disease is not considered a cancer.
