Childhood Disintegrative Disorder Health Center

Childhood disintegrative disorder, known also as Heller's syndrome, is a condition in which a child develops normally until the ages of around 2 or 4, and then begins to demonstrate severe loss of social, communicational and other skills. Childhood disintegrative disorder is a lot like autism, and both are among the group of disorders known as pervasive developmental disorders, or autism spectrum disorders. Both autism and childhood disintegrative disorder involve normal development followed by significant loss of language, social, play and motor skills. Childhood disintegrative disorder, however, occurs later than autism and involves a much more dramatic loss of skills, and is much less common than autism.
