Cholera Health Center

Cholera is a bacterial disease which is usually spread through contaminated water. Cholera causes severe diarrhea and dehydration, and if left untreated, it can be fatal in a matter of hours. The modern sewage and water treatment have virtually eliminated cholera in the industrialized countries. The last major outbreak of cholera in the United States occurred in 1911, but cholera is still present in Asia, Middle East, Latin America, India and sub-Saharan Africa.
