Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome Health Center

Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is an uncommon, neuromuscular condition which causes pain, swelling and in some cases even disability in the affected muscles. Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is exercise induced. Though anyone can develop the syndrome, it is more common in athletes who participate in sports which involve repetitive movements, like running, biking or swimming. Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is also called chronic compartment syndrome or exercise-induced compartment syndrome.
