Cirrhosis Health Center

Cirrhosis is a term used to describe scarring of the liver. The liver carries out a number of essential functions, such as detoxifying harmful substances in the body, purifying the blood and manufacturing vital nutrients. Cirrhosis occurs in response to chronic damage to the liver. If only mild cirrhosis occurs, the liver can repair itself and continue its role in the body, but more advanced cases of cirrhosis can make more and more scar tissue to form in the liver, making it impossible for the liver to function.
