Colon Cancer - Causes

Causes of Colon Cancer

Like most cancers, the cause for colon cancer is unknown. It occurs when healthy cells change and grow and divide even when they are not needed. This growth leads to the formation of polyps in the lining of the intestine.

Over the course of several years, these polyps can become cancerous. As the disease progresses, it can get into the walls of the colon and eventually spread to lymph nodes and other organs.
