Congenital Heart Disease In Adults Health Center

Congenital heart disease (congenital heart defect) is an abnormality of the heart structure that a person is born with. Congenital heart disease used to be fatal in most cases, but it is far more treatable today. Though congenital heart disease is usually considered a childhood condition, advances in surgical treatment have made it possible for most babies that would have once died of congenital heart disease to survive well into adulthood. Although medical advances have improved, many adults with congenital heart disease might not be getting proper followup care.
