Craniosynostosis Health Center

Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which one or more of the joins between the bones of the infants skull close prematurely, before the infants brain is fully formed. When a baby has craniosynostosis, the baby's brain can not grow in it's natural shape and the head is misshapen. Craniosynostosis can affect one ore more of the joins in the infants skull. In some cases craniosynostosis is associated with an underlying abnormality which prevents the brain from growing properly.
