Diabetic Coma Health Center

A diabetic coma is a life-threatening diabetes complication which causes unconsciousness. Diabetes, a dangerously high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or dangerously low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), can lead to a diabetic coma. A person who lapses into a diabetic coma is alive, but they can not awaken or respond purposefully to sights, sounds or other types of stimulation. If left untreated, diabetic coma can be fatal.
