Flu & Cold - Flue Shot

Flu (influenza) shots have become very popular because they are highly effective at preventing the flu and its complications. Getting a flu vaccine is the most effective way to prevent the flu and complications.

Flu vaccinations are highly recommended for the elderly and children, since both of these groups are most at risk from the flu. However, children under the age of 6 months cannot get the vaccination. Vaccinations for those over the age of 65 reduces flu related deaths by 50%.

In the United States, the best time to get vaccinated is around October or November. The side effects of the shot include soreness and redness where the shot was administered, minor fever and aches. Side effects from the nasal mist can include runny nose, headache, wheeziness, vomiting, aches, sore throat and fever.
