What are the risk factors for hemorrhoids?
The risk factors for hemorrhoids do not directly cause them, but simply increase the likelihood that they will develop. There are several risk factors for hemorrhoids and these include:
-pregnancy: pregnant women have a high incidence of hemorrhoids
-heredity: those with family members that have had hemorrhoids are more likely to get them
-aging: the older you are, the more likely it is that you will get hemorrhoids
-constipation: regular episodes of constipation puts you at a higher risk of developing hemorrhoids
-diarrhea: regular episodes of diarrhea increases the likelihood of developing hemorrhoids
-inactivity: lack of movement and exercise increases the risk of developing hemorrhoids
-sitting: too much sitting is another risk factor for developing hemorrhoids
