Is Hives Contagious?

Hives is not contagious so you can not pass it onto someone else who doesn't have Hives.  However the triggers of Hives especially bacteria, viruses & parasites may be contagious.

How long does Hives last?

The welts normally dissapear within the first 48 hours but new ones may appear for days or weeks.  If new Hives keep occuring for more then six weeks you have chronic Hives (chronic Urticaria).

How can Hives be prevented?

If Hives continue to reocure you will need to do a blood test with your doctor in order to figure out what is cause of Hives.  The only way you can prevent Hives from occuring is by knowing what causes them.
