Week 27
You:
Once you reach week 27, you are officially in the third trimester. Now you will start to put on a lot more weight. Don't be alarmed, this is needed for a healthy baby, and unless your doctor tells you that you're gaining too much then you are doing just fine. You may be feeling short of breath due to the pressure of your uterus. You should watch out for signs of premature labor, such as: bright bleeding from your vagina, dull ache in the lower back, loss of clear fluid from the vagina, contractions or cramps, pain in the pelvis, pain during urination, swollen face or hands, and sharp, lasting pain in the abdomen.
Your baby:
Baby's brain is continuing to grow and develop rapidly. Baby's hearing is improving and he or she may now recognize your voice. Breathing and lung development continue in preparation for life outside the womb. The eyes are open more now and the baby can see light and dark. With each passing day, the odds of survival increase. Baby is now almost 15 inches long and weighs almost 2 pounds.
