Week 40
You:
Week 40 is your final official week of pregnancy! Fewer than 5% of women give birth on their due date, and for first pregnancies it is very common for births to be after the due date, so hang in there, and don't panic if the baby doesn't arrive this week. The vast majority of women end up giving birth 2 weeks before or after the official due date. Try not to worry, and relax as best you can. Your baby will arrive soon enough.
Your baby:
The lungs continue to develop right up until birth. Baby's hair and nails continue to get longer, and you may want to put mittens on your baby after the birth to prevent scratching. Most of the vernix is gone, but there will be small amounts left when the baby is born. Your baby is definitely ready to be born now.
