Pregnancy week by week Menu
Week 8
You:
Some time during week 8, many women have their first visit with the doctor. The doctor will want to know the full medical history of yourself, your family and that of your partner and his family. As at all visits, you will have your blood pressure checked and you will be weighed. Typically a woman will gain 20 to 30 pounds during pregnancy, but you probably won't gain much until the second half. You will also have a blood test done and possibly even a pap smear.
Your baby:
Cartilage and bones start to form. Intestines migrate from the umbilical cord into the abdomen. Baby's tiny fingers and toes are growing, but they are webbed. Baby’s length is just over half an inch and the weight is about one gram.
