There are a variety of ways to treat incontinence in women. Pelvic floor also known as Kegel exercises help most women reduce stress incontinence. Also, timed urination training, lifestyle adjustments and medical devices can treat stress incontinence. Weight loss can also reduce stress incontinence.

Lifestyle changes can also help urge incontinence. Reducing the consumption of bladder irritants such as vinegar, tomatoes, spicy food, etc can help, as can avoiding alcohol and caffeine. Bladder training can also be used to treat urge incontinence. Timed urination can treat both stress and urge incontinence.

For functional incontinence, usually for people with a disability, prompted voiding can be used.

Medications such as anticholinergics (ie. oxybutynin) can relax the bladder and increase bladder capacity. Antidepressants can also be used to treat incontinence. Herbal remedies such as Flotrol work by strengthening the muscles that control urine flow.

 Surgery is used as a last resort in the treatment of stress incontinence. Tension-free vaginal tape and transobturator tape are used to reposition the urethra. Retropubic suspension surgery and sling surgery support pelvic organs and reduce stress incontinence.

Urethral bulking uses collagen to build up the urethra. This is a good treatment for those who can't have surgery.
