Health and Wellness Programs

Health and wellness programs are a combination of activities that focus on health promotion and disease prevention. They are intended to facilitate a series of educational events and programs as well as opportunities to improve the health and wellness of the people. Their vision and mission is to conduct a diverse and balanced offering of health and wellness events to develop individuals in a fun and motivating atmosphere. Most programs comprise health fairs, educational events and programs, exercise clubs and groups, sports activities, fitness classes and competition events, wellness and fitness testing, guest speakers, fitness center orientations and workshops to identify specific health risks as well as personal needs and interests. All these events are planned to train, influence and motivate individuals on the importance of health and wellness.

The objective of any kind of health and wellness program is to provide services and programs that support, respect and honor the total wellness of the individuals. All of them are aimed to handle actively with problems such as high blood pressure, stress, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. They provide a series of classes that study people about the benefits of a healthful diet and an active lifestyle to reduce the risks of heart problems and diabetes. The programs are also an efficient way to educate about depression, substance abuse, mental illness, learning disabilities, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, and other subjects that affect adults, teens and children.

Health and wellness programs are so important because it affects all aspects of our lives. They are modeled to meet the various needs and interests of the entire community. Through an extensive range of programs in fitness, health, sports and other recreational activities, they proffer opportunities for individual fitness, leadership development, social interaction, extra-curricular involvement and enjoyment. For each dimension, there are related activities or classes. For the physical aspects there are a series of health modules or specifically focused health fairs. In addition there are fitness centers with cardiovascular workout equipment and weight training as well as a number of classes, including water aerobics, yoga and healthy cooking classes. The programs feature a number of wellness lecture series and expert physician symposiums.

The intellectual dimension is designed by nurturing and valuing the mind with mentally challenging activities. The social and emotional dimensions are addressed to be both group-oriented and introspective. There are seminars and workshops dealing interpersonal relationships in the family and friends. There are also programs that emphasize the enjoyment of life; and group workshops focusing on the awareness of communities. Through various programs, spirituality explores ethics, values and purposeful living.
