Alternative Stress Relief Methods

Friday, December 04, 2009

In today's hectic fast paced world, many people are suffering from stress. Some people resort to using drugs, but for those who prefer not to, there are effective alternative therapies.

One way to deal with stress is the Feldenkrais method which is very popular in Europe. This method uses movement to relax the body and the mind. It focuses on the relationship between your emotions and physical wellbeing. The movements bring attention to neglected parts of the body and relieve stress.

Another stress relief method is cupping which was developed by the Egyptians and the Chinese. This method uses glass cups that are heated and applied to the skin. The pressure and suction from the cups stimulates the nervous system, and the sensation soothes the mind while improving blood flow. This method is often used in conjunction with acupuncture.

A third alternative stress relief method is Reiki, which comes from Japan. This method involves a therapist applying his or her hands to targeted parts of the body. This treatment is based on the universal life force that connects us all. When this energy is low, we become stressed out, so this therapy can help.
