Best Foods for Weight Loss

Friday, November 20, 2009

While most of us think about what not to eat when trying to reduce our weight, it is also important to think about things you should eat. There are several basic foods that can help you in the process of losing weight.

Milk contains calcium and complex carbohydrates which can boost metabolism. This will keep insulin levels low, which prevents your body from thinking it needs to store fat.

Whole grains also help with weight loss. The fiber helps to boost metabolism and help you burn more calories. They also make you feel more full so you snack less often and they help to keep insulin levels low.

Spicy foods boost the metabolism and cause you to burn more calories. It is recommended that you also consume modest amounts of coffee.

Green tea is another beverage that can help you lose weight. It contains a chemical that speeds up the brain and nervous system. The chemical, called EGCG has a similar effect as caffeine, but it won't make your heart race. It will also help you to burn more calories.

Finally, turkey is another food that can help with weight loss. It is not only a lean source of protein, but it also boosts your metabolism. However, it is best to remove the skin to reduce calorie intake.
