Foot Detox Shocking Scam

Thursday, January 03, 2008

To Foot Detox or Not To, That is The Question.

Are you looking to do a foot detox? Maybe you'll reconsider when you read this shocking info.

Foot detox is a product that claims to detoxify your body by soaking your feet in water while wearing foot pads. It is sold under various names, such as foot spa, energy spa and super detox foot bath. The website is full of testimonials from people claiming that the product has cured several ailments including gout and migraines. However, there is no clinical evidence that the product actually has any health benefits or cleansing effect.

The only evidence of its effectiveness the makers of the foot detox product provide is that the water turns dark brown after you have soaked your feet in it for a while. For those who are gullible, this might be enough to convince them to part with their hard earned money and try the product out. But the brown color of the water is merely due to a chemical reaction involving rust, iron electrodes and salt. This theory has been tested and confirmed by Ben Goldacre, a columnist for Guardian Unlimited.

The best way to detoxify your body is by living a clean and healthy lifestyle and perhaps using a colon cleanser. Although this means more work, because you have to watch what you eat and exercise regularly, there are no shortcuts in life. Although there may be a placebo effect, due to the feeling that you are doing something to detox, those looking for a quick and easy detox will be disappointed with foot detox.
