How to Avoid Eating Fatty Foods When You Are Stressed

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Stress can cause us to overeat, or eat foods that are bad for us. When stress hormones are released, we crave high fat, high sugar foods. However, if we catch ourselves, we can prevent the inevitable weight gain that arises when we get stress related food cravings.

When you are feeling stressed instead of reaching for the cookie jar, you should try other ways to calm your nerves and relax. Getting some exercise with a short walk can help. Talking to a friend can also be helpful. Try breathing deeply or listening to relaxing music.

Almost everybody goes through a stressful time in their life. The important thing is to avoid the temptation to eat the wrong foods, which will lead to weight gain. With a little bit of will power and a few coping mechanisms, you can avoid the weight gain that so many people suffer from when they are under stress.
